The Galapagos Islands are a once on a life-time experience, unparalleled by any other. However, because the islands are quite small and over-tourism is putting a lot of pressure on this fragile eco-system, visitor numbers are restricted and demand is high, especially for the cruises. We work with a number of cruise operators (more than shown below), but only offer cruises on the smaller boats. Another alternative is island hopping. You won’t see quite as much, but you will be spending more time on one or the other island and getting a more in-depth experience of ‘being there’. Dive packages are available with both of the cruise operators mentioned below, as well as at Casa Natura.
First-Class Cruise
Letty
Our preferred Galapagos Cruise partner takes sustainability seriously – they were the first company in Ecuador to become a carbon-neutral operation. Their week-long cruises are operated onboard very comfortable and regularly maintained yachts that are fitted to the highest standards. Land excursions are undertaken in small groups and guided by expertly trained naturalist guides. This cruise combines the highest standards of eco-consciousness with excellence in service and creature comforts. For those who really want to immerse themselves, a longer 14-day itinerary is also available.
M/C Anahi
The M/C Anahi is a Power Catamaran Yacht, built in Guayaquil, Ecuador, launched at the end of 2006. It provides great standards of comfort. With unparalleled stability, your cruise is guaranteed to be a restful and relaxed one. The boat offers spaces for 16 passengers, providing a highly personal and intimate experience. A well-trained and experienced crew of 8 will take excellent care of you to make sure, you’ll have the experience of a
Galapagos Island Hopping
Island Hopping is a great alternative for all those, who want to experience more of the Islands and travel less by boat. This is a great alternative to traditional Galapagos Cruises. Instead of travelling, eating and sleeping on a cruise boat you will stay at land-based hotels and choose your own restaurants for dinner. You will be able to see many (though not all) of the sites visited by cruise ships and be able to soak up the atmosphere of island life when you are not on a tour exploring the archipelago’s amazing wildlife. This itinerary is active, but not especially strenuous.
Casa Natura
This little hotel in the Highlands of the Santa Cruz Island is a great base to explore the Galapagos at a slower pace and, in a more budget-friendly way. They offer short packages that are just based at one hotel, as well as slightly longer Island Hopping, tours that give you the opportunity to see at least two islands. They also offer packages specifically for divers.
